Justin Toole was a prime target for the Iowa Hawkeye baseball program out of Council Bluffs, IA. All four years of high school he was all-conference, all-district, all-city & all-Western Iowa. He was a three time all-state selection with two of those seasons being named to the all-state Super Team. His senior season of high school he was named the Bob Feller 4A Pitcher of the Year and the BCA/Louisville Slugger Iowa Player of the Year. He played immediately upon joining the Hawkeyes, becoming one of only three players to not only pitch but also play the field. His Sophomore season, he again played the field and pitched, making four appearances in relief. But, it was also the season he took over Second Base for Iowa, earning 3rd Team All-Big Ten. He would follow that up his Junior year with another 3rd Team All-Big Ten season, ranking in the Top 10 in nine different categories. He went into his Senior season as a Pre-Season 3rd Team All-American and ended it as a 3rd Team All-Big Ten selection once again. He left the Hawkeyes with his name scattered throughout the record books. He set the longest hitting streak of 25 games, the 2nd highest single season hit total with 87, 8th highest single season run total with 63 and the most singles in one game with 5. He was signed by the Cleveland Indians as a free agent in July of 2009. He started out with the Arizona League Indians in the Rookie League and then moved up to join the Mahoning Valley Scrappers of the Class A SS Affiliate. In 2010, Toole spent time with the Scrappers again but also moved up to the Class A Advanced Kinston Indians where he spent most of the year. He also made appearances in 3 games for the AA Akron Aeros and 1 game for the AAA Columbus Clippers. This season he returned to the Kinston Indians and was a mid-season All-Star in the Carolina League. In early September, Toole was placed on the Temporary Inactive List and was then assigned to the Akron Aeros once again, where he finished up the season.
