Hawkeye fans will likely best remember  Bowen for his tremendous hustle on the floor.   His style of play and skill set epitomized the type of player that fit perfectly in the Tom Davis high tempo style.  Bowen was a true work-horse on both ends of the floor. He remains the All-Time leader in steals with 208 for his career as well as holding the steals mark for a single season with 79.  He also holds the All-Time record for field goal percentage in a career at 57.5%, as well as standing 4th overall in blocks with 124 and 8th overall in rebounds with 804.  He left the Hawkeyes and was drafted in the 2nd Round of the 1998 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets.  He played in Denver for 5 seasons before taking his workman’s attitude to Houston.  After two years with the Rockets, Bowen was released and headed overseas.  After spending a year abroad with 2 different teams, Bowen found his way back on to an NBA roster when he signed with the New Orleans Hornets.  He spent a couple seasons in New Orleans before trying to make the roster of the Oklahoma City Thunder.  He unfortunately did not and decided his playing career was over.  Little did he know that the coaching transition at his alma mater was going to bring Bowen back into the Hawkeye faithful’s radar.  He was hired as an Administrative Assistant/Video Coordinator in May 2010 under new head coach Fran McCaffery. One year later, he took a position with the team that drafted him. He was hired by the Nuggets with many roles under his belt.
