William Inge, known as Bill Ennis-Inge while playing defensive end at Iowa, played all four years with the Hawkeyes under Coach Hayden Fry. He helped the team to a 3rd place finish in the Big Ten and an Alamo Bowl victory his senior year as a co-captain. His size and his play earned him a free-agent contract with the Tennessee Titans after college, but after one season he went back to Iowa City to fill the role of a graduate assistant and a recruiting coordinator for his alma mater. He remained with the Hawkeyes for three season from 1998-2000 before heading north within the state to join the coaching staff of the University of Northern Iowa Panthers. He took over as linebackers coach before eventually taking on the responsibility of co-defensive coordinator. He left after the 2004 season ended to join the Colorado Buffaloes as the their defensive line coach for the upcoming season. He only remained at Colorado for one season though, leaving in 2006 to join fellow ex-Hawkeye Chuck Long’s staff at San Diego State. He coached the linebackers for the Aztecs for two seasons before signing leaving for the same position with the Cincinnati Bearcats. He coached at Cincinnati from 2008-2009, helping them to an undefeated record last season and the outright Big East Championship. He left after Brian Kelly broke up the coaching staff with his departure for Notre Dame, but found a home with the University of Buffalo Bulls as their Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach. His defense finished the 2010 season ranked 35th in the nation in yards per game.
