Traynor joined the Hawkeyes and like many newcomers, took a redshirt his first year with the team. He did not see any playing time his Freshman season either before becoming a constant on the Offensive Line from the 2000 season on to the end of his career. He was a letter winner for three seasons and also won Academic All-Big Ten two separate times. After his collegiate career ended, Traynor didn’t have to go far before finding his next home. He joined the Quad City Steamwheelers of the Arena Football 2 League. He played for the Steamwheelers from 2002 through the 2005 season. He then moved up to the NFL the following season, joining the Green Bay Packers for four games before being released. He left the Packers and headed overseas to play in NFL Europe for the Rhein Fire, starting all ten games at Center. In 2007, Traynor returned stateside and joined the New York Dragons in the AFL, starting as their Tight End and Fullback. In 2010, Traynor moved to Center and was a stalwart on one of the better lines in the league before being injured near the end of the season. This year he rejoined the Barnstormers where he remains in the middle of the Offensive Line.
