Edds found the field early & often for the Hawkeyes. He played immediately as a Freshman including starting one game during the 2006 season. His Sophomore season Edds was the starting Outside Linebacker and by his Junior season, both the Coaches & Media voted him Honorable Mention All-Big Ten. The 2009 season would be Edds best with the Hawkeyes, ranking 4th on the team in tackles and 2nd on the team in interceptions. He was voted 2nd Team All-Big Ten by the Coaches and his performance helped him to be selected in the 4th Round of the 2010 NFL Draft after the Miami Dolphins traded up to select him with the 119th pick overall. Edds signed a 4 year contract on June 24th, 2010 but was unfortunately placed on Injured Reserve on August 4th, 2010 when he tore his ACL before his rookie season even started. He healed up nicely and reported to camp for the 2011 season. However, he was a surprising cut when the Dolphins set their 53 man roster. Fortunately, Edds was signed quickly by the New England Patriots. He played in two games before being cut and signed to the Patriots Practice Squad. Before the 4th game of the season, Edds was signed to the active roster of the Indianapolis Colts, joining former Hawkeye teammate Pat Angerer in the linebacking corps. When Angerer left the Patriots game after the first play with an injury, Edds stepped in as his replacement. His 2011 stats:
