Wiegmann left the Hawkeyes after being a consistent performer on their Offensive Line in the mid-90′s. He went undrafted but through hard work and dedication has put together an NFL record for consecutive games started by active Centers. He has compiled the streak while playing for the New York Jets, the Chicago Bears, the Kansas City Chiefs and currently the Denver Broncos. His endurance was rewarded when he was selected as an alternate for the 2008 Pro Bowl. However, on February 23rd, 2010 Wiegmann was cut by the Broncos as they transitioned out of their zone-blocking scheme. He wasn’t on the free agent market for long though, as Wiegmann headed back to the Chiefs and continued his streak during the 2010 season and into the 2011 season. Currently that streak of games started sits at 175 after the 15th game of the season.
