Rivals: 4 star RB
Scout: 3 star RB

After being a 3 year starter for the Hawkeyes at Running Back, Young is one of only 3 Hawkeyes to rush for over 3000 yards. He went undrafted but was signed to the Minnesota Viking Practice Squad in 2008. In 2009, he was in a battle for the 3rd Running Back position on the roster and beat out Ian Johnson to make the team. Unfortunately, playing time was hard to come by as he was 3rd on the depth chart behind one of the best running backs in the league in Adrian Peterson. He played in 7 games throughout the 2009 season but didn’t get his first touches of the season until Week 15.  He finished the regular season rushing 12 times for 53 yards. Young did not accumulate any stats in the playoffs before the Vikings were defeated by the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship game. Heading into the 2010 season, the Vikings let go of their backup running back, paving the way for Young to take the reins, which he did, being promoted to 2nd string Running Back heading into the regular season. However, Young was listed as inactive for most of the Vikings games and was placed on Injured Reserve after the Week 13 win over the Bills. While playing he rushed the ball 13 times for 29 yards. After the season came to an end, Young became a free agent and eventually signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2011 preseason. However, Young was among the cuts when the Jaguars shaped their 53 man roster to start the season. However, right before the first round of the 2011 Playoffs, Young was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
